Warm sunny days, the end of the school year… what’s not to love about June? It’s the perfect time to do stuff, and your readers may be very much interested in your tips and ideas on how to make summer FUN.
– Hit the beach. Is there anything more quintessentially summer than a beach day?
-Plant a garden with your family. Planting a garden can be as simple as putting a few plants in a pot or planter on your porch or balcony. No matter how you do it, it’s so fun to take care of them together and reap the fruits of your labor later on.
– Host an epic water balloon fight.
-Go putt-putt golfing. This is one that’s fun for the whole family. If you have a baby, pop them in a carrier and join in the fun.
- Head out for a hike. You’ll want to time this strategically to avoid the heat of the day, nap times, and mealtimes, but head out early, pack plenty of bug spray, water, and snacks and enjoy all that nature has to offer, together.
-Make freezer jam. Once you’ve picked all the fruit, try your hand at making some freezer jam! It’s way easier than canning and the whole family can get involved.
-Hit the trails. The bike trails, that is. It will most likely take some prep work and you’ll need a bike trailer if you’ve got little ones, but a family bike ride can be the start of something great.
–Roast marshmallows. A summer tradition for a reason, you can take up your s’mores game a notch this year by making a marshmallow bar or mix it up with non-traditional ingredients like peanut butter cups or flavored marshmallows.
– Have a “yes” day. inspired by the Netflix movie (adorable, by the way, and you should watch it first together) and yes, we support laying down some ground rules, but for kids, the premise is thrilling.
- Go on a picnic. It doesn’t get more throwback than a good, old-fashioned picnic. Bonus points if you can find a vintage picnic basket
– Visit a local waterpark. Bring on the water slides! Or splash pads, for the younger crowd.
- Try your hand at farming. If you have the space and the ordinances to support it, consider adding to your family with a few backyard chickens
